| EMF's Chief Executive Honoured |
Our Chief Executive, Krishna Sarda,
has recently received an award from the V. K. Krishna Menon
Institute in India for his work on poverty and social exclusion.
He has also been awarded an honorary doctorate for his contribution
to integration and social justice.
Krishna was born in Tanzania, East Africa, qualified and trained
as a lawyer; and on his journey through life has developed a
huge appetite to fight what he calls 'the good fight'. Since
his arrival in Britain, Krishna has lobbied and campaigned tirelessly
to raise awareness of the needs of minority ethnic individuals
and communities. As Chief Executive of EMF for the past five
years, he has already helped raised £14 million for the
minority ethnic sector, as well as masterminding the acquisition
of the country's first-ever community assets: Boardman House
in London and EMF House in Manchester.
It is Krishna's personal and professional experiences that have
shaped his overwhelming desire to address discrimination, inequality
and social injustice. Krishna believes that, in order to attain
this goal, one must not remain isolated, but actively seek to
participate in mainstream society. As somebody who has successfully
progressed from the margins to the mainstream, Krishna is now
determined to realize his vision of a truly diverse and equitable
British society that provides opportunities for all.
